- (continued from previous page)But little was their notion that they'd return no more.
They scarcely were a mile from land when their cries were heard quite clear.
The boat began to spring a leak, did shake them all with fear
Being terror stricken, their cries for help were heard for miles around;
But before relief could reach them to the bottom they went down.
It would draw tears from the hardest heart that ever beat in man,
To see those children's parent that evening on Lough Sillin
The fathers, they were frantic, and their mothers screaming wild,
"Oh God above, where is my love, my only darling child?"
And may the Lord receive their souls; they met with a awful doom,
To be taken away so suddenly all in their youth and bloom.
May the Lord comfort their parents and their friends- they may implore-
Who were left behind to mourn their loss now on earth won't see them more.
Now to conclude and finish; and I hope the Lord on high
Who was witness to that sad tragedy with His allseeing eye,
To receive unto the mansion of everlasting life,
The children's souls, the master, the monitor and his wife.- Collector
