  1. Marriages take place at any time of the year except in lent or Advent. It is said that if two brothers or two sisters get married in the same year it is unlucky. There are no matches in this district.
    Money is always given as dowry. It often depends on the kind of place that the bride is going to. If it is a small place they get about £100 or less. Long ago marriage took place in the house, because it was the custom priest came and married the pair. Straw-boys visit the house after a marriage. They dress themselves in old rags and hats so that they will not be known
