"Married in blue you will always be true,
Married in red you had better be dead,
Married in green ashamed to be seen,
married in white you have chosen alright,
Married in brown you'll live out of town",
is an old verse about colours.
If it is a poor class of people that are married straw boys go to the house with bugles, fiddles and musical instruments, and play music. They be well treated for they get stout or whiskey. They always try to see who will get dancing the bride first.
The girl often takes with her hens, ducks, or vessels for her fortune or perhaps a heifer.
