    Not many years ago there lived in Violet Hill, near Broadford a man named Martin O' Kennedy.

    Working in Cullane.
    Here are a few lines which he composed about the women of clonlea.
    Sure you’d love to see the way the Cailins of Clonlea.
    Were cleaning their kitchens and their keepers
    But now their heads are down .they always wear a frown.
    Since Cooney drew the sand bags to the peelers
    He also composed a song about the church in O “Callaghans Mills this is the first verse of it.
    There are beautiful chapels all over the country
    Around by the valleys and over by the glens
    In painting and tracing there cannot be beaten
    We know that the clergy are all very tasty
    The shine of their chapel would free your from sin.
