  1. Jack Ryan and his sister Kate lived together in a little house in the vicinity of Ballina. Jack got a new bicycle and he was very proud of it and spent most of his time polishing it. One day he was coming down a very steep hill. He lost control of the bicycle and went head over heels over the wall at the foot of the hill. When he came to his senses he found that the bicycle was in bits, so he had to go home and leave it behind him. He told Kate what happened -
