    These formed part of the Ring Forts of Each Class.
    There were three in each townland and when any three in a townland were lighted - the lights could be seen by those of other townlands.
    Lios - lios báirín - a townland of the parish where a priest was in hiding in the Penal Days and where the pair is still called Casán an tSagairt
    Dún -v baile. dún. athar (Ballydunathar) - townland in parish
    Cathair - Cathair Tarlaith (Caherhurley)
    Raths and forts within the Bodyke N.S.district.
    These forts are referred to by the distinguished Antiquarians - Mr. Thomas J Westropp (Western Troop Cromwellian) who lived with his nephew Col. Westropp. He supplied Mr O'Doherty with papers containing this information. He died in 1920 at 40 Strand Rd, Sandymount, Dublin.
