On three consecutive days in March young nettle leaves were pulled ,chopped finely and put into gruel which was made thinly of oaten meal.Each member of the family was supposed to drink a cup of this before retiring. This was done for the sake of their health,and the following rhyme was quoted :-
"If girls would eat nettles in March and sage in May,
