- (continued from previous page)to Jack's house and when they saw the cattle they asked Jack's mother where she got them. They were amazed when Jack appreared and told them that he got them in the river last night. He then took them to get more of the cattle. When they arrived there one of them got into a bag and went into the river. When his bother heard him bubblin he thought he was driving the cattle. He went in to help him and so the two of them were drowned.
- Long years ago there lived in the old castle of Mallow a gentleman named Norreys. he was very anxious to build a new castle but had not much money to do so. The devil appeared to him one day and told him he would give him plenty money to build a castle but that he should take care of a black cat and to be sure not to offend him. He said he would take care of the black cat and all was well. Every day he used go to his drawer he used get plenty money. At length the castle was finished and he gave a great banquet in it.
