  1. At the time when Cromwell invaded this country and burned monasteries and churches, he divided the land on the outskirts of the town of Cobh into fields. He built stone walls around them. Some of these old walls are still in existance and to be seen here especially in Ballinacrusha, Ballyleary, and Ballydulea. Grass and moss are covering them now. It is said that he gave an equal share of these divisions to some of his followers at the time.
