- (continued from previous page)Denis Curtis smith Kilnaboy used to banish rats, and stop bleeding in any cut or wound no matter how severe it was. There used to be stories told in the forge long ago. There were pikes made in Frawley's forge for the 1916 rising. A smith in Dysert named McInerney made pikes for the Fenians.
- Castles
There are the remains of a castle at Bealnalicka which belonged to Mahone O'Dea.
At Portlecka stood another castle but there is no account of the name of the owner.
At Dromore there is a castle in excellent preservation with the following inscription: " This castle was built by Teige, second son of Conor, 3rd Earl of Thomond, and by Slaney O'Brien wife to the said Teige".
