- The night before Shrove night is called Skellige night. All the people do have ropes and anyone that is not married they skellige them.
- Miss Kennelly wanted to know the name of the man she would marry. On Shrove Tuesday Night she put nine grains of oats in her mouth. Then she passed nine doors and at each door she waited for a few minutes to know would she hear the name of the man she would marry called out and when she didn't she took one of the grains(continues on next page)
