When Our Lord was dying on the cross a little robin was flying about and it chanced to pass under Our Lord's Cross and a drop of blood fell on the breast of the robin and that is why the robin has a red breast.
One day (mrs) Mrs Cain of the Glen Ballybunion was opening a chicken's gall and she found a gold ring.
Long ago, people used to go cribbing. When a small bird was caught they used to pluck its tail and if they caught that little bird three times they would kill it.
In cribbing when a hen blackbird was caught a cock blackbird was bound to be caught after the hen and it is a lot harder to take a cock blackbird out of a crib than a hen.
