    Buttermilk was drunk by the people in abundance.
    The kind of bread eaten was called, "Tom Steel". It was made by mixing oatmeal with water and it was baked on a flag by the fire. The people usually worked three hours before breakfast. It was the custom to leave the stirabout boiling when they were going to work, and when they came back it was boiled.
