    At the beginning of August the potatoes are dug and put into pits. Some of them are used for fowl and pigs and the rest are kept for seed.
    Long ago starch was made from potatoes by peeling the potatoes and scraping them and boiling the juice in warm water. That liquid was used for starching clothes.
