    the forges were thatched but now they are roofed with corrigated iron. The smith used make shoes, slains spades. ploughs and mounted harrows.
    It is said that it is not lucky to steal anything out of a forge. A smith was supposed to do evil to a person by "turning the anvil" on the person on whom he wished to harm. That person would have bad luck for life.
