- We have the following farm animals at home: two cows, four calves, one horse, three pigs, one cat and one dog, and forty sheep. We have no special name on them. When driving out the cows I say "How up", to them.
We call the cow house a "byre". The byre is thatched and is about thirty feet long and twelve feet broad. A wooden manger runs along one side. It is divided into stalls for the cows. There are iron(continues on next page)- Collector
