    money used to be given long ago, but not now.
    Nobody in this locality remembers marriages to take place in the homes of the people. They always take place in the parish church, and always on the afternoon.
    The contracting parties used to invite all their friends, and all the guests used to accompany them to the church, on side-cars drawn by horses.
    Sometimes there used to be over twenty cars at such a marriage.
