- There are many ways of making bread.
The bread in olden times was made from wheat grown locally. They had two round stones which were twisted by the hand called querns. They were rough on the surface so as to cut the wheat. They used make oaten meal bread, oven pot bread or barm bread, potato cake and griddle breads. For festivals people made their own(continues on next page)- Collector
