    Within three miles of
    Gorey is Courtown a
    beautifully situated resort.
    The well-wooded demense
    of the Earl of Courtown
    adjoins the village and is
    open to the public.
    Further on is Ferns the
    bygone city of the Kings of
    Leinster. The town derives
    its origin from a church
    founded in the sixth century
    by St. Aiden, or Maidoc,
    (St. Aiden patron saint
    of Co. Wexford) to whom
    Brandubh, King of Leinster, granted a site.
    The town around the Monastery increased in importance until
    it was
