    Many of the people visited Kilmachree as a place of Prayer and all were always convinced that there lay covered the holy remains of a truly saintly man.
    But as the aged people died out the holy man's name became less mentioned and there are none now living who remembers even their parents talk of the holy man. The little Chapel now stands lone and desolate and in ruins. It is now almost fifty years since I was in it and at that time cattle and pigs were allowed to roam over the sacred ground. The Chapel door was rotted away and there was no glass in the windows. Grass was growing on the floor. The grave was there and the deep hole showed that more than manhand had taken clay from it, as having covered the body of a saintly man. The altar itself was almost in decay. No house now stands near the church where at one time scores of houses I believe surrounded it but
