    There was a man livin' down near Rhivershtown at wan time, an' at that time Hurlin' was a great game in Irealnd, an' this man was a noted hurler too.

    , for o' courche the lads ushed to walk to the matches them times, for there was no motor cars to take them there.
    The team that they war ta meet was another sthrange team too, for the lad never remembered seein' any o' their faces.
    An' they war supposed to be about the besht team in all Ireland, an' the team the lad was playin for wanted to get the batin' o' them be hook or be crook.
    an' they kep' tellin him all the way down "Now if ye ever played well in yer life play today, an' we'll pay ye back well for it."
    The Lad o' courche said that he never played for payment, but at anyrate, when he did play, he played well, an' the result o' the game was, that his team won.
    They war very elated indeed when they had beaten the crack team o' all Ireland, an' they praised the fella to the highesht for the part that he done, for they say that only for the way he played that they wouldn't score such a goal, an' so an' so, an' he couldn't get away from them until it was fallin' night an' then they invited him off to a Ball wit them.
    The hurler when he saw it was no use in refusin their kindness went off wit them, but is it was night, he oculdn't see fot road they war takin', anyway they arrived at the Ball, an' there was crowds an' crowds.
