- I cannot leave Sronell or pass from Damer without mentioning Liam Dall, as he is commonly called i.e. 'Liam Dall O Heffernan of Sronell'. In the two articles wh I published in the "Irish Press" 1935 ( 15/ Aug I think and later) I incorporated all the material wh. I collected at
Sronell some years previously. [Will it be necessary for me to rewrite these notes or to re - collect for the Commission?]The burning question occupying our attention: Was he born born? Or did he spend many years on the Continent as a clerical student? If so, what deprived him of his eye-sight?
An examination of documents (published in MSS) prove the Heffernans were very strongly entrenched in the lands of Sronell immediately before the day of Cromwell. - [See Illustrated article "Odd Corners in History", Sunday Independent of about six months ago]I always heard him called the CUT Quinlan in Doon but the people around here ( three miles nearer to his native place wh is only six miles from here) insist that his nick-name was CUD
