Luck-money is given at fairs. Ten shillings are given with a horse, five shillings with a cow, tow and six pence with a bullock and one shilling with a donkey.To finish a bargain two men slap one another's hands. After a dealer buys a beast he brands it with some colour, red, blue, green or white. In Balla there is a special place for cows, a special place for bullocks and other animals. Sometimes cattle are marked on the tail with a scissors.
When a man sells a horse, he gives away the halter with it. Cattle going to England are usually marked with a scissors. The mark is called the "Crow's foot."
