- On St. Stephen's day a great many boys and some men go out to gather money to bury the wren. When they are going from house to house they sing.
"Up with the kettle, and down with the pan. Give me a penny to bury the wren."
On St. Bridid's day most girls go out to gather some money with a little doll. The little girls say that the doll is St. Bridid and they want to clothe her.
On St. Patrick's day it is the customs
for some of the people in Ireland to wear shamrock in honour of St. Patrick.
Ash Wednesday is the first Wednesday in Lent and Holy ashes is put on our foreheads.
