- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)the holes with a spade. About a week after the potatoes are sowed the dikes are dug with a plough. Then the soil is put up on the ridges. The potatoes are manured before this is done. When the people are sowing the potatoes the neighbors help one another. People exchange potatoes so that they will not have the same seed each year.
Wooden ploughs were never used in this district. The spades are not made in the district but are bought in the shops. The chief treatment given to the growing crops during the Summer months is weeding, moulding and spraying. In June and July my father sprays the potatoes three times. My father digs the potatoes in Autumn and puts them in pits(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
