The doors were about four feet (wide) long and two feet wide and they were locked on the inside with a nail and a string and with a hasp on the outside. They made the fire against the wall in a way that the smoke went out in the hole in the roof. They had no lamps or candles at that time but they made their own light when it was dark, they peeled some rushes then soaked them in grease and when they dried they were stiff then they lit them and those are what they used to show them light for the night.
