   The waste land such as bogs, bottoms, forests were called "commons land" This was not owned by anybody but every free man had a right to use it for grazing or procuring fuel.
   The landlord would not take in a tenant on a farm unless he had horses, sheep, and cattle to carry on the work of tillage.
   Every farmer had from twelve to fifteen acres but no tenant would be allowed to use it unless he was able to pay the rent of it.
   A small portion of tenants had stock of their own, but the majority of the
