Ballaghaderreen - Long ago caves were very useful in Ireland in the troubled times as they were good hiding places for hunted priests or outlaws. One day a man in Carralackey was sinking in a well when he came upon a line of flat stones which he understood was a cave. He removed a few of the flags ad sent his son down with a lighted candle to see if he would get anything inside.
