Cutting hair
The old people say it is not right to cut hair during Lent, because they say it would not grow again. When anyone cuts hair they put it in a hole in the fence for the birds to get to build their nests. They also burn the hair for fear they would get head-ache.
Lucky days
The lucky days are Sundays and Wednesdays.
Lucky birds. The lucky birds are the robin and wren. The wag-tail is the unlucky bird.
Lucky animals. The cow and sheep and the donkey are the lucky animals. The unlucky animals are the goat and the mule.
