  1. Autumn the most colourful of the seasons is with us at present.
    The farmers are very busy now cutting and stacking the corn.
    When this work is over he is very happy and invites all those who have been working with him to a "harvest festival".
    Songs of joy and gladness are sung and all have a merry time.
    Another harvest custom is - the farmer threshes a few sheaves of oats and gives some of the corn to all the young animals of the farm; he gives the remainder of this to his wife who gives it to all the fowl of the farmyard.
    The woman of the house kills a 'fat' cock and invites any neighbours who helped to gather the harvest to a big feast.
    The farmer who gave the most help is given first place at the table and he gets the biggest part of the cock to show that his work is appreciated.
