    then carefully thrown one potato into each hole. If the holes are made with a stibin the potatoes are covered or the holes are closed with a smoothing block or a mallet.
    Potatoes are then [?] or manured. Stable manure, is scattered on the ridge and then the "shoughs" are dug and the clay shovelled up to cover the manure. This is called "setting" the potatoes. When the potatoes grow and the stalks are about nine inches in height they are carefully weed or cleaned then the furrows are dug and the clay broken fine. The clay is shovelled up on the ridges. This process is called "moulding"
