    One wave came and knocked off the load. He was thrown off the horse, the load along with him. Another wave came and swept one cleeve off. He clung to the cleeve (it was cleeves all four had) on the west side. He never got the other one from that forth. Just then the horse gave a plunge and swept him about ten yards. He was safe at that moment. Looking back he saw Hanlon behind a few feet from a channel. His load had fallen too. He had a cap belonging to Hynes. He waved his hand just as he was going across the channel. A wave came and broke the hangings of the cleeves. Down went horse and man.
    The police and people were looking for him all through the strand thinking that he would be brought ashore. But they were disappointed. They were sent out the next day with boats to look for him. A lot of boats passed beside him. At last one boat just came beside him. The steersman saw his hand about an inch down under the water. He caught hold of it and dragged him to the shore. He caught hold of him and dragged him ashore. He was brought to his own house where an inquest was held. There was one thing remarkable about him viz. every joint in his body was as fresh and as loose as if he were alive. He was found on the opposite side of the island where he was drowned. They found the horse afterwards.
