- Once upon a time there was an old fairy fort and this night there was a man named John Murphy and he was coming from card playing. And it was very late at night and he had to pass this fort and as he was passing he saw a man with a green cap on him and he said "Good evening John"
"Good evening" said John
"Where are you going this time of night. Where were you, were you card playing"
"I was" said John.
"Well you should not be out this late at night"
He brought him into a room where there was a lot of people sitting down at a fire singing. They all stopped when they saw John and said, "Can you sing"
"I cannot "said John,
"Well you can" said the fairy king .
He got up to go home at once.
"Where are you going, is it card playing"
"It is not" he said. Then the fairy queen got up and said "You are not going away" and caught him and put him into a box. And this day they were going out racing with their horses and John got out of the box. And he saw a nice box and he opened it and he saw a horse shoe.
He put it into a can of water and a fairy came in. And when John heard the door opening he went out the window and the fairy looked into the box and John was not there. And they said they would watch him the next night when he would be coming from card playing. So the next night(continues on next page)- Collector
