- Lahardane old school was situated on the west side of the Lahardane Crossmolina [?] road.
It was built about the year 1846, and it was the first N.S. in Lahardane since the hedge-schools.
After the hedge-schools the young people of this district went to school to the present parish church, which was built to the roof by Fr. Rowan P.P., of Addergoole, and completed by Rev. P. MacHale in the year 1845, and after this they went to the old school.
It is built on William Barrett's land, and it now made into a dwelling-house.
There was a yard to the back, which was divided for the boys, and girls by a high stone wall, and at the end of this wall was a lavatory which was divided into two for the boys and girls.
There were four windows one the front, and one on the back, and there were twelve panes in each window.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
