The one that makes the jam has to break them up and put sugar through them and leave it in the jam jar for a while before they can use it. This is called black berry jam. Another game we play is picking nuts. A few of us go together and pick as much as we can. When we pick them we put them in hiding for a while until they are ripe. Then we eat them and we keep some of them for November's night. We pick the nuts in Autumn. In Winter we begin catching birds with cages. We make the cage out of bol (?) trees and rods. When we have the cages made we set them in such a way that when a bird goes into it it will fall on him and catch him. We put oats into the cage the way the birds will go into it to
