- Long ago there were no candles for sale but some people made them. Michael Daly of Boughadoon made candles from a cotton thread and tallow.
He would tie threads on a piece of a rod. Then he would put the tallow into a pot and boil it. Then he would dip the threads into the pot and when he would pull them up there would be a coat of tallow on them. He would leave the threads there until the tallow would be frozen. When it would he would dip them into the pot again and so on until the candle would be thick enough.
The was some great weavers long ago also. There was a great weaver in Letterneevogue named John Coyne. He could weave towels and tablecloths. He would weave flannel in diamonds of different colours.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
