- There are four tailors in my parish. They work in their own houses. Some of the tailors supply cloth. Most of the cloth is bought in the shops. Flannel suits are not worn around here now.
People make thread in my district and out of it they knit stockings. There are two sorts of wheels used in my place; the linen wheel and the wooden wheel. We have a linen wheel at home. We use it for spinning woollen thread. The woollen wheel is used for "tensting" thread.
When a person dies, all his friends wear black clothes for twelve months. Long ago the women got linen from Belfast and made shirts for the men out of it.- Bailitheoir
