    It was in the charming month of June,

    It was in the charming month of June, with fields and meadows green,
    As I rambled through those Western hills, most glorious to be seen.
    The hoarse voice of the Corporal, will never me annoy.
    I was once a soldier to King George, but now a labouring boy.

    For eight long months of hardship, I should go through my drill,
    But little did old George think, it was against my will.
    They taught me how to form fours
    And like wise making time, And they punished
