“There were two men who were brothers living in the country one time. They were very poor.”
There were two men who were brothers living in the country one time. They were very poor. One of them died and as they were very honest Tom thought his dead brother had no debts to pay. As his grave was near the house he used go every night to weep and pray over it, but one night his dead brother came to him and told him that he owed money to a black-smith in Dungarvan.
Tom went to the town. The black-smith said he owed him nothing. When he came home he went to the priest and told him what had happened. He told him to get holy water, a knife, and a March cock. If it was not his brother he would not come in his own form.
