  1. In 1871, a party of men set out to search for gold in the 'Deer-Park' of Ballynatray (Youghal). It is supposed to have been buried there in the reign of Queen Elizabeth by the Abbott of Ballynatray. They dug several pit-holes but could find no gold. They were then told by an old resident that if they searched at twelve o'clock at night, they would find the gold. They tried again at the time mentioned but were hunted out of the park by a swarm of bees. Up to the present, no other attempt has been made to find the gold in question. The grove where the money is supposed to be hidden still bears the name of 'Groivín-an-Airgid' or the 'money grove'. The name of the Abbott was Molanfhed
