In the year 1916 heavy snow and frost lasted for six > weeks cattle and sheep suffered in many parts. In the year 1936 their was a big storm slates were blown down huts on the sea bank were blown into the sea. There was a great snow blizzard in the year 1931, the snow lay on the ground for several days, the school was closed owing to the severity of the snow.
