Once upon a time, there was a man who lived in the townland of Eglish.

taking it and, when he would put them in at night, he used to try to milk them but they would not give it to him.
They would do nothing only kicking. One day, however, he went out and watched what was taking it away. This witch used to come into the field in the shape of a hare. She used to have a tin. The people called called it a "noggin". The man had a gun with him and, when he saw the hare coming, he hid behind a ditch and waited till she came over to the field. She began to milk one of the cows. When she had her noggin filled, she used to make off across the fields and go over to a house they called Mc Grory's. Then she used to come back again and start to milk again. The man put a charge into the gun and fired at her but he missed her and killed the cow. It is said that she ran full speed out of the field and she was never seen milking the cows again.
