    A family of the name of Doherty consisting of husband, wife, and daughter lived in a cottage house near Inver. When they were a few years married, the husband died, and the widow woman had to go out and wash to earn a living for herself and her little daughter. Her little daughter had to go to school along with two little girls of a nearest neighbour family who were about her own age. The little girl used to stay with them until her mother would return for her at night.
    One lovely evening the three little girls went down to play beside Inver shore. They built sand castles and happiness poor Mrs Doherty’s little girl fell in off one of the logs into the sea. The other little girls screamed and roared, men who were gathering sand heard them. They immediately knew that there was something wrong. When they came the children told them the
