- Long ago the bread was not made from flour but from oatmeal and potatoes.
They used to take the corn to the mill and get oatmeal made from it.
There is not such bread used now. Flour bread was not used except on certain nights such as Hallow Eve night. Their special bread was made from potatoes. It was called boxty. It is not now made.
The potatoes were peeled, then wrung and grated. Some people mixed a little grain of flour with them.- Collector
