- The cow, horse, pig sheep, donkey, goat, mule and [?] are the chief farm animals round here. The domestic ones are cat and dog. Some of the cows have names. Our own small red and white cow is called "breacín" after her mother who died of old age a few years ago. There is a small blue cow in the village. She is called "maoilín" because she has no horns. I have not heard of any other cows in the district having names. When I'm driving them home in the evening I always say "How, How" and when I am trying to separate them during fighting I use "hearsh".I always heard the people say "Spios Gabair" if they are chasing the goat out of a place. They use Spios cearc to the hens, spios laca to the ducks and spios gé to the geese. When calling the hens they say "chuck chuck""" "" ducks - "whaortín, whaortín"" " geese - "beadaide, beadaide"" " sheep - "chuffinín chuffinín"but they use spios yerr if they are setting the dog on them.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
