- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)Another dish, that the people liked very much , was "sowans" It was made of crushed corn the crush was milled with a little round stone on a board. When it was milled the crush was taken and steeped it in water for a week, it was taken and squeezed it in your hands then the water was kept and boiled. Then it was taken off then it was left to cool because it wasn't so good when it was hot.
In the harvest field the main drink was a can of cold water with a fistful of oat meal in it, this was to keep it fresh and cool. Butter milk was a great favourite of the people in olden times for drinks.- Bailitheoir
