  2. The children long ago made dolls out of potatoes. The would put a piece of wood in the potatoes and put another piece across for arms. They would dress it up and put hair on it with sheep's wool.
    They used to cut a spool to a sharp point and stick a piece of wood in it and use it as a top.
    They used (to cut a spool) to make "spinny-jennys" out of leather. They would cut the leather round and make wee nicks in it, and cut two holes in it and put a piece of thread through the holes. They would twist it and it would a buzzing noise.
    They would make snares out of horse hair, then tie the snare on to a piece of stick and by placing the stick in the ground the birds would get caught.
    In olden times rabbits were caught with snares. They were made out of wire and then
