    Galbraith's forge is a one roomed stone building consisting (?) on large folding door also two windows and a fireplace. It has a wooden roof and a boarded floor. The bellows are home made. The blacksmith uses a sledge, hammers, files, claw-hammers, caps (?) and nippers. He shoes horses, and asses and ploughing (?) horses. He also makes iron harrows.
    Shoeing cart wheels is done in the open air. Forge water is supposed to be a cure for chilblains. Smiths are generally looked upon as being very strong.

  2. There are three taliors in the district and all three live in Ramelton. The all work in their homes. They do not stock the cloth but order it as it is required. The nearest tweed and woolen factory is Convoy. Blue serge is the type of cloth most in demand.
    The talior uses a sewing machine, smoothing and pressing irons, needles, thread, chalk, scissors and a tape line. Shirts are often made by my mother at
