There is a local tradition regarding Colmcille. The story is as follows:- Colmcille was one day walking toward Mulroy Bay. Fishermen were coming from the Lough where they had been fishing. Their catch had been a small one; they had only a couple of salmon. One of the fishermen saw Colmcille approaching and he said to the others, "Hide the fish - there is Colmcille coming and we have no fish to spare if he asks for any." Colmcille came up to the man. He blessed them and their works and asked them if they had caught anything. They replied that they had caught nothing. Colmcille knew that this was a lie. He replied "If you have caught nothing may you catch but if you have caught may you never catch again." The story concludes - And from that day to this(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
