In the townland of Sessaughlong there lived a man who had a large farm. There was one field especially near the road and it always contained a quantity of water.

    (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)
(told him he was digging.) asked him what he was doing, and he told him he was digging a drain. He then told him to stop digging that way, because the water would wet him when he would go under the ground, and he also told him if he would obey him, he would be rich all of his life. So he did what he was told and he dug it the other way. So in his digging he dug in very deep, and he came upon a large bag of gold. He then stopped the digging, and he took it home, and he was never in poverty, ever after.
Convenient to where this happened there is a whin mill hill, and it is called so because there was a mill on the top of it at one time, and they scutched lint in it at the time in the olden times, and that is why it is called the whin mill hill. There are no ruins of the old mill now, because long ago the stones were drawn away when the mill was not in use. Now, there is a way in the spot where the mill was standing, and it is owned by a certain farmer. A few miles from Sessaughlong there is a lane and it is called the gallows lane, because long ago, there was a man hung at it from a tree,
